KT [030200] announced on the 27th that it will pursue Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) cloud service (GPUaaS) business with AI startup Lablup.
The two companies agreed to jointly develop GPUaaS services, which have seen increased demand in the recent global AI transformation, and launch the service as soon as possible.
Lablup is a company that develops AI infrastructure operation management platforms. Its flagship product, Backend.AI solution, is the only software in the Asia-Pacific region to receive verification for use with NVIDIA DGX systems.
KT explained that Lablup is the optimal partner to jointly pursue the GPUaaS service business, which lends GPU resources to companies requiring high-performance computing.
Jeongkyu Shin, CEO of Lablup, said, "We will support corporate customers' AI transformation by combining our technology, which provides AI solutions from the operating system level to services, with KT's expertise."
Seung-ho Song, head of KT's Strategy and Business Consulting Division's SPA Headquarters, said, "We aim to collaborate with multiple partners for solutions that help corporate customers' AI transformation," adding, "We will work with Lablup to support GPUaaS services to many companies that need GPUs."
